CITY ARE BACK
COMMENT
This site is not strong on political comment but the start of a new era back in the Faithful City requires a few words to say a heartfelt thanks to Steve Goode, the directors and officials of the club and all those loyal supporters who kept the faith during the long era of games at Kidderminster and Bromsgove. Without the support of all involved the club would longsince have vanished. Thank you to each and everyone. (Andrew Smith).

CITY V TIVIDALE - WEDNESDAY 9th SEPTEMBER 2020
The virus that had ended last season so abruptly lent a strange atmosphere to the City' homecoming at Claines Lane but a lucky 300 supporters were allowed in to watch the start of a new era. The last competitive game in Worcester had ended in a 1-0 loss to Chester and this first game back ended with the same scoreline. A lot has changed whilst the club has been away and so the result was of less interest than it might have been. There is still much work to do before this new site is truly the home of the club but to even get a game on at all has required a massive effort from all involved.
The game was a low-key affair with Tividale setting up a solid Yellow wall and inviting City to breech it. They came for what they could get and fair play to them they got it and more. The City defence and midfield look solid but the attack showed early season lethargy and perhaps not a few nerves.
The visitors took full advantage of just about the only defensive mistake by City just before the half time break. Hawkins stumbled over the ball when trying to clear a hopeful through ball. Dan Smith pinched it and curled a lovely shot into the top corner (see below).
That really was the end of Tividale as an attacking force. They sat out the remainder of the game in their own half of the field and came away with a famous victory.

The first goal scored at the new home of Worcester City. Dan Smith celebrates his clever lob.
WORCESTER CITY v WALSALL WOOD - Saturday 12th September 2020
After the long period in exile F.A. Cup football returned to the Faithful City and a capacity crowd limited to 300 lucky souls watched an entirely transformed City side place some of their best football for a long time. It was great stuff to watch as they ripped the opposition apart.
Fittingly a quick-fire brace of goals from Sean Brain gave Worcester a comfortable 2-0 lead at half-time.
As was to be expected the Wood came out firing in the second half and quickly halved the arrears with a good goal from a free kick.
City were rocking but the defence held firm and City created a couple of decent chances themselves as they wound down the clock.
So the first home win at the New Lane was duly celebrated by the faithful with a final score of City 2 Walsall Wood 1.
