Worcester City and the F.A. Cup
Worcester City has a long and illustrious career in the F.A. Cup and the 2005/6 campaign adds further to that impressive record.
City's best ever cup run was in 1958/59 which saw them beat Millwall (5-2 at home in the Second Round on 6/12/1958); Liverpool (2-1 at home in the Third Round on 15/1/1959) before losing to Sheffield United (0-2 at home in the Third Round on 24/1/1959).
The next season of note was 1978/79 which saw the club beat Plymouth Argyle (2-0 at home on 25/11/1978) before losing to Newport County in a Second Round replay (0-0 at Newport on 16/1/1978, 1-2 on 18/12/1978).
In 1982/83 Wrexham were beaten in the Second round (2-1 at home on 11/12/1982) before losing at Coventry City in the Third Round (1-3 on 8/1/1983).
1983/84 saw Aldershot (League Division 4) beaten in the First Round (1-1 draw at Aldershot on 19/11/1983; 2-1 in replay on 21/11/1983).
Since that time there have been further games against league opposition but these ended in defeat (0-1 at home) to Rushden on 17/11/2001 and to Torquay United (0-1 at home ) on 14/11/1998.
