2025/26
Worcester City v QUORN
Saturday 9th August 2025
A meeting between last season's runaway winners of Worcester league and City who had gained promotion via the playoffs (see 2024/25 season) was played in blistering heat before a crowd nearly three times that of the first league the previous year.
No doubt many came to experience and take in the first game of City's season at level three, back in the Southern League after so many years.
Quorn are expected to do well this season and would have thought their task today would have been an easy one. Indeed they hit the City woodwork no less than three times in the first half and should have been out of sight at the break. But it was City who were in the ascendency in the second half also rattling the visitors woodwork twice.
The game looked to be heading for a well-earned point for both sides when an error in the City's defence handed Quorn an unlikely stoppage time winner.
Two very good sides.
Worcester City v BURY TOWN
Saturday 23rd August 2025
City returned to Sixways after two frustrating away games. A point was just about deserved at Banbury but the trip to Needham Market was a poor defeat. So with only one point from three games better returns were hoped for against newly-promoted Bury Town.
A continued injury to Whitcombe saw Derby County loanee Josh Thompson continue at goalkeeper and new signing Musa Ceesay making his City debut.
Cessay had a dream start heading City in front after 7 minutes from a corner. It was though a disjointed first half performance from City but the main talking point were red cards for Sweeney for City and Parr for the visitors after the latter squared up to Belmonte near to the corner flag and an altercation ensured. In the immediiate aftermath Bury grabbed the equaliser and scored a second just after the half time break.
Bury used every tactic in the book to slow the game down and waste time resulting in a flurry of yellow cards for the visitors. Both sides made liberal use of substitutes but it was the ones City made that were better. Finally City seemed to have found a competitive line up and they created a flurry of half changes as the visitors wilted before, with only seconds left on the clock, Zac Guinan continued his heroics from last season striking a magnificent equaliser from distance to leave a final score of City 2 Bury 2.
Halesowen v Worcester City
Monday 25th August 2025
A massive holiday crowd of about 2,000 packed into The Grove to basked in the late August sunshine. If the last twenty minutes of the game on Saturday was the best of this season so far then this game surpassed that by some measure as City dominated from start to finish to record their first win of the season. City dominated in all deprtments and it was the familiar trio of Guinan, Miles and Lockett who turned in a powerhouse performance in attack. Felix Miles took his starting chance with open hnads and fired City into an early lead which was soon doubled. The Yeltz tried hard but could find no way through a stubborn City defence. Half time came and went and it was always Worcester who held all the cards. Dan Sweeney added a third late on. A superb win.
Worcester City v CHASETOWN - FA cup
Saturday 30th August 2025
Autumnal winds and rain greeted Worcester City's entry into the FA Cup at Sixways. A good crowd of over 800 watched a very entertaining game played in difficult conditions. City were the better side in the first half and duly took the lead with a Lockett rocket.
Chasetown equalised after a mistake in the City defence. Both sides had chances to win the game but neither could get the ball into the net leaving the teams to try again on Tuesday after the game ended 1-1. City sadly lost the replay.
Worcester City v REAL BEDFORD
Saturday 20th September 2025
Over 1,000 fans braved the cold and wet to watch this highly entertaining but untimatly frustrating game.
City started brightly and took the lead with a wonderful strike by Kyle Belmonte as early as the fourth minute. City dominated the first 25 minutes but two errors in defence handed the visitors an unlikely lead. City piled forward looking for the eqialiser but a breakaway goal handed the visitors all the points.
Worcester City v BISHOP'S STORTFORD
Saturday 18th October 2025
It is fair to say things have not gone smoothly this season for Worcester not helped by injuries and personnel changes. But it all came togethger finally helped by one of the most bizarre own goals ever seen. Botah goals came in first half of the game. Dan Sweeney lashind a short in from the right on 12 minutes follows twn minutes by the visitors No.2 smashing the ball into his own net from 30 yards. Enough to win the game for City who kept a welcome clean sheet.
Worcester City v LEISTON
Saturday 8th November 2025
After two easy wins (3-0) to Bromsgrove and Sudbury (6-0 away) City fsnd were hoping to keep the run going but it was not to be as the visitors took advantage of poor defending to take the lead with a well htit shot from just outisde the area. It was quite frustrating for City who could find no way through a solid defence until Lockett found the elusive toucg to equalise from close range to leave the honours shared.
Worcester City v ROYSTON TOWN
Saturday 29th November 2025
A massive boost for City ahead of a very difficult December fixture list against all top teams in the league came by way of an early goal from Harry Burns. Not much else to say about this fixture as for most of the game defences were on top and there was little by way of goalmouth actions
Worcester City v HALESOWEN TOWN
Friday 26th December 2025
A massive holiday crowd boosted by a lot of Yeltz supporters saw a game that was highly entertaining and could have gone either way. Halesowen scored in the first half but Charlie Lutz (son of former City player, Steve) equalised in the second half. Either side could have won the game but it was Halesown who scored to win 2-1.
