2026/27 SEASON
City v Stamford AFC
Saturday 22nd August 2026
This was City's first home game of the season following after three away games that yielded three goals but only one point so in many ways it was important for City to win the game.
City could have had a penalty in the first minute, but nothing was given. City though were well on top in the first 45 minutes with plenty of good approach work but lacking the killer touch. The vital first and as it turned out only goal came as half time approached. A scrappy tap in by Brendan Smalley from a corner.
The second half was more of the same, but City appeared to have scored a second at the start of the added time at the end of the game, Nothing was given as perhaps the officials did not have a clear view of the incident. Stamford best chance to grab an unlikely point followed with the ball crashing back to safety off the woodwork. And so it ended City 1 Stamford 0 to the relief of the very vocal home fans. Good to see Isaac Reid and family at the game too.
City v Bromsgrove Rovers
Monday 31st August 2026
This was City's second home game of the season following four away games that sees the team 14th in a table that is rapidly splitting into the top 7 or 8 and the others. Bromsgrove are in that top eight and deservedly but City matched them in everything but the goal, of which the least said, the soonest mended. Both teams showed a lot of top quality football with Bromsgrove shading the first half and City the second as they battled to rescue the game. But that one goal handed the points to the visitors whose near-perfect performance was marred by straight red card as the game entered its final few minutes.
City 0 Bromsgrove 1 before a crowd of over 1,100.
